Solid oxide electrolyzer cell
A Solid Oxide Electrolyzer Cell (SOEC) is a device that performs the electrolysis of water and/or carbon dioxide using a solid oxide, or ceramic, electrolyte. It is capable of producing hydrogen gas and/or carbon monoxide, along with oxygen, by operating in a regenerative mode. SOECs are primarily used in industrial applications where efficient hydrogen production is required, such as in energy storage and fuel production systems.
