Volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity
The VUCA framework is a concept that originated in the military and has been adopted by business and organizational leaders to describe challenging conditions. It encompasses four components: Volatility, which refers to the speed and unpredictability of change; Uncertainty, which involves the lack of predictability and difficulty in understanding future conditions; Complexity, which describes the multiple, interconnected factors affecting a situation; and Ambiguity, which refers to the lack of clarity about the meaning of events. The VUCA framework is valuable for leaders and organizations aiming to develop strategies and capabilities to navigate and thrive in such challenging environments.
