Aspiration pneumonia

A type of lung infection that occurs when food, liquid, or vomit is inhaled into the lungs instead of being swallowed into the esophagus and stomach. This condition leads to inflammation and infection in the lungs, often requiring antibiotics and sometimes hospitalization for treatment. It primarily affects individuals with difficulty swallowing, decreased consciousness, or neurological disorders.
