Supersonic speed

It refers to the rate at which an object travels faster than the speed of sound, or Mach 1. In dry air at 20 °C at sea level, this is approximately 343.2 m/s or 768 mph. Speeds that exceed five times the speed of sound are classified as hypersonic.
