Trauma trigger

In the field of psychology, a trauma trigger refers to a stimulus that prompts involuntary recall of a past traumatic experience. This stimulus may not necessarily be traumatic or frightening, and can be indirectly or superficially reminiscent of a previous traumatic incident. Examples can include a scent or a piece of clothing. Distressing life events such as accidents, illnesses, and assaults often lead to trauma, and individuals process these events in unique ways.
