It's important to note that we've measured organic traffic to the web version of each AI tool.
The measurement doesn't account for the visitors accessing these AI tools via apps or APIs, meaning the overall user base is larger for many of these tools.
Which AI Tools Are Growing the Fastest In Popularity?
Rank | AI Tool | Popularity Increase (Past 6 months) |
1 | DeepSeek | 88.6% |
2 | Google AI Studio | 80% |
3 | NotebookLM | 57% |
4 | Cursor | 56% |
5 | Perplexity AI | 37.7% |
Interestingly, the AI tools growing faster in popularity are ones that are currently available for free entirely.
DeepSeek has no paid plans yet. And Google's AI Studio is the free experimental version of the latest Gemini and Gemma models.
While NotebookLM and Cursor have pro plans, their free versions are good enough for simple projects that they're continuing to attract tons of new users.
Perplexity AI is the only tool with a noticeably limited free version on this list, but it's also growing considerably slower than the completely free options (DeepSeek and Google AI Studio).
Since the AI industry is relatively new, many of these tools are still growing their traffic and adding new users.
Here are ten notable AI tools from the list that we want to highlight.

Conversational Chatbots and Generative AI Tools Lead the Race
Based on monthly traffic, AI tools for work-related tasks tend to be the most popular. Writing assistants like QuillBot and general models like ChatGPT and Gemini are among the favorites for the vast majority.
Photo and video editing platforms with AI capabilities are also extremely popular, with Canva being enjoying the greatest market share in our list of 65 top popular AI tools.
That said, AI tool popularity trends change very rapidly. The launch of Deepseek, for instance, produced a sizable market shift that's likely impacted ChatGPT's growth speed (despite still being quite strong).
We regularly update this post with latest stats in response to these market changes. So remember to check back often!
