Marathi language

Predominantly spoken by the Marathi people of Maharashtra, this Indo-Aryan language holds official status in the Indian state. It is also recognized as an additional official language in Goa, provided requests are made in Marathi. The language has a rich literary heritage, with the earliest known Marathi inscription dating back to 983 AD.
