Since launching in 2016, TikTok has rapidly grown in popularity, reaching 1.99 billion adult users as of the latest 2026 report.

As of December 2025, TikTok.com receives around 2.14 billion monthly visits. Its total adult ad reach is 1.99 billion, per Data Reportal's Digital 2026 Global Overview.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of visits (61.9%) come from mobile devices.
In terms of unique visitors, TikTok sees around 735 million per month.
The average TikTok visitor views 9.37 pages per visit and spends approximately 12 minutes and 33 seconds on the platform.
TikTok has a bounce rate of 52.31%.
The majority (68.41%) of TikTok traffic is direct. In contrast, just 21.57% of visits come from organic Google searches.

The largest proportion (40.3%) of US TikTok users is 25 to 34 years of age.

The biggest change in the last three years has been a drift in audience profile toward the 25-34 category. Some early adopters will have simply aged beyond the 18-24 demographic, but the platform has also widened its user base to encompass a greater spread of young adults.
The social media platform’s appeal to a young audience has taken TikTok level with Instagram in terms of popularity among Gen Z users.

As of the latest data for 2026, the majority of TikTok users are male (54.6%). The remaining 45.4% are female.
Split by age, the single largest group of TikTok users is male 25-34-year-olds (23.6%).
On the other end of the spectrum, male and female users aged 55+ are the smallest groups (4.2% male, 4.3% female).

How to Track Popular TikTok Content
With a fairly even gender split and a 2-billion strong user base that spans Gen Alpha, Gen Z and Millennials, TikTok has now become an essential marketing channel.
Where TikTok once might have been perceived as only for "young" brands, ignoring the platform now is leaving almost a third of the online population on the table.

TikTok Users by Region
Around 23.16% of all TikTok visits come from the US as of December 2025. That’s more than 2x more visits from the US than from any other nation (excluding China, where TikTok operates separately as Douyin).
The TikTok Sale: Oracle Takes on US Operations
With the US such a major international market, it's little wonder that the threat of a TikTok ban was such a big deal. But in 2026, an agreement has been reached to preserve the app's presence in the country.
A new venture has been created for the sole purpose of running TikTok in the US. Oracle has come on board, both as a major investor and as an assurer of security protocols.
Interestingly, ByteDance will retain a 19.9% stake. But the involvement of Oracle has satisfied the US government that TikTok can run without posing a threat to national security.
There are outstanding questions about what this TikTok sale will mean for the future of the app. It's expected that the new Oracle-backed company will be able to license the all-important algorithm from ByteDance, but will need to retrain it on US data.
However, at least in the short term, TikTok is likely to continue dominating in the US.

That’s closely followed by Austria with 552.3 per month.

Most Popular TikTok Creators
Looking at TikTok creator ages, figures are skewed towards a younger demographic.
Young adults (18-24 years) make up over half of the creators (52.83%). While under 18s make up a comparatively low 27.47%.

As of January 2026, Khabane (Khaby) Lame is the most-followed TikTok creator with over 160 million followers and 2.5 billion likes.
Charli D’Amelio and MrBeast are the only other creators with upwards of 100 million followers at the time of writing. At 21 years old, Charli D’Amelio is also the youngest creator to crack the top 10.
Zach King (35) is one of just 3 top 10 creators aged 30 or above.
In total, 9 of the top 15 are either American or part-American.
