Cobalamin

Known as Vitamin B12, Cobalamin is a water-soluble vitamin essential for various metabolic processes. It is one of the eight B vitamins required by animals for DNA synthesis, and plays a significant role in both fatty acid and amino acid metabolism. Absorbed in the distal half of the ileum, it is metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidneys. Its elimination half-life is approximately 6 days, but it can remain in the liver for up to 400 days.
