Mridangam

Originating from the Indian subcontinent, this percussion instrument serves as the primary rhythmic accompaniment in a Carnatic music ensemble. It shares similarities with the Kendang, which is played in Maritime Southeast Asia. The Mridangam's unique sound is produced by the tension created between two sides of the drum, which can be adjusted to achieve different pitches.
